Children’s Assessments

Hearing is central to how children learn to speak, read and interact with the world around them. Even a mild hearing loss that goes undetected can affect a child’s speech development, their ability to follow instructions in the classroom, and their confidence socially.
If you have noticed that your child seems to mishear words, asks you to repeat things regularly, speaks loudly, or seems inattentive – particularly in noisy environments – it is worth getting their hearing checked properly.
Diane has extensive experience assessing hearing in children and understands how to make the process calm and straightforward for both child and parent. Appointments are unhurried, results are explained clearly, and you will leave knowing exactly what the picture is and what, if anything, needs to happen next.
Assessments are available for children of all ages. If a referral to a specialist or your GP is appropriate, Diane will advise you on the right next steps.
What to expect at a children’s hearing assessment:
- A relaxed, friendly appointment with no pressure
- A full discussion of your concerns before any testing begins
- Age-appropriate hearing tests carried out by an experienced audiologist
- Clear explanation of the results for both you and your child
- Honest advice on next steps, whether that is monitoring, further assessment or intervention
If you are concerned about your child’s hearing, do not wait. Early identification makes a significant difference.
