Over 44 years in audiology. NHS-trained. Genuinely independent.
Diane Hammond began her career in audiology in 1981, training as a Student Audiologist within the NHS across the Coventry and Birmingham area. After five years of training and clinical experience, she went on to work at Leicester Royal Infirmary, eventually becoming Chief Audiologist.
In 1992, she made the decision to go independent. She has since built a practice serving adults and children across Rugby, Coventry, Daventry and the surrounding areas, working with hospitals, schools for the deaf, and government bodies including the War Pensions Directorate and the Metropolitan Police Service.
In 2005, she sat her dispensing examinations and moved primarily into the private and independent sector, where she has remained ever since.
Today, Diane provides thorough hearing and tinnitus assessments, professional fitting and aftercare for a wide range of hearing aids, micro-suction earwax removal, custom ear protection and swim moulds, and home visits for patients who cannot easily travel.
“Hearing loss affects far more people than realise it. Most wait years before doing anything about it, often because they are not sure what to do or are put off by the idea of a pushy sales process.
My aim is to make the whole thing straightforward. Every appointment is built around the individual. I allow plenty of time with each patient to understand properly what they are finding difficult and what they are hoping to achieve, because that foundation makes everything else work better.
If a hearing aid is the right answer, I will explain your options clearly and, rather than asking you to pay in full at the fitting and hope for the best, I offer a six-week trial period so you can be completely confident before you commit. If it is not the right answer, I will tell you that too.
I have been doing this for a long time, and I still think there is nothing more satisfying than helping someone hear properly again.”
